Donald Trump Loves Inflation… Do Mike Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve?
This week, President Trump – unbothered by the affordability crisis he has made worse – said that he “love[s] the inflation.” This comes as the latest Consumer Price Index report shows inflation at its highest level in 3 years, cost-of-living expenses continuing to rise, and gas prices remain elevated and could skyrocket even more as a result of Trump’s aimless war in Iran.
This is not the first time the President has shown such callous disregard for the number one issue facing Massachusetts. He previously referred to affordability as a “hoax” and said he doesn’t care about Americans’ financial situation.
Despite all of this, Brian Shortsleeve and Mike Minogue continue to be steadfast supporters of President Trump and his harmful agenda, including his tariffs and his war in Iran that are driving up costs on everyone. It begs the question: As people struggle to make ends-meet, do Brian Shortsleeve and Mike Minogue, longtime supporters of Donald Trump, “love the inflation,” too?
Here are the facts:
Mike Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve voted for Donald Trumpin 2016, 2020, and 2024, with the former even hosting JD Vance in his home for a fundraiser in 2024 and donating $250,000 to Trump’s second inauguration.
Mike Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve support Trump’s tariffs driving up costs on everything we buy, even as Minogue acknowledged that tariffs “cause things to go up,”
Brian Shortsleeve applauded the President for cutting SNAP, a program that thousands of families rely on as Trump and Republicans make the affordability crisis worse.
Both Republican candidates remain silent on the financial strain on working families as a result of the President’s war in Iran.
"As out-of-touch, millionaire, MAGA Republicans like Mike Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve ignore the pain Bay Staters are going through, Governor Healey is working every day to lower costs, protect fundamental rights and freedoms, and stand up to the harm President Trump is causing every single day,” said MassDems Chair Steve Kerrigan. “From capping deductibles and co-pays to building 100,000 new units of housing to drive down costs and giving first time homebuyers $25,000 for a down payment, Governor Healey remains focused on delivering real results for Massachusetts families. It’s long past time for Mike Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve to denounce President Trump’s policies that are driving up costs and making life harder for the people of Massachusetts.”
