The purpose of the Winchester Democratic Town Committee (WDTC) is to advance the ideals and aims of the Democratic Party and to strengthen the party. The WDTC works through the electoral process to get Democratic candidates elected to public offices at the district, county, state and national levels. In connection with these efforts, we also seek to enhance the democratic process by engaging more people in political activities.
To carry out its work, the WDTC holds monthly business meetings and organizes various events and activities. Annually, the WDTC holds a town-wide Democratic Caucus to elect Winchester delegates to the State Democratic Convention. Meetings of the WDTC are open to the public. Registered Democrats and unenrolled voters are invited to attend WDTC meetings and events.
The WDTC consists of local Democratic Party members, who are elected in accordance with the by-laws of the WDTC. In addition to the elected members, the WDTC has a number of active associate members. Elected and associate members also support the WDTC through the payment of annual dues. The leadership of the WDTC includes a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, elected annually by and from the elected membership.
