Two members of the Somerville Democratic Committee were chosen to be members of the Electoral College this year.  They are City Chairman Helen Corrigan and Ward 5 Chairman Elizabeth Moroney. On December 13 in a ceremony at the Massachusetts State House, they cast their votes for John Kerry for President and John Edwards as Vice President.   Both have been chosen by the other electors as officers in the group:  Elizabeth as Secretary and Helen as Treasurer.

Like many other Somerville Democrats, both electors were very active in this year’s campaigns.  Helen spent a long weekend in the Waterville/Lewiston/Augusta region in Maine and the last week before the election she and her husband traveled to Tampa, Florida to help the campaign. Elizabeth worked on behalf of the Kerry campaign in Maine and New Hampshire doing door to door canvassing.  In addition to her work with the Kerry campaign, Elizabeth worked on the sucessful re-election campaign of State Senator Pam Resor, for whom she works for as Chief of Staff.
