Kerry Healey Just Doesn't Get It.
Stands alone in calling for fare hike, elimination of pensions for working people

Earlier this week, Healey declared herself the only gubernatorial candidate to support a proposed fare hike for T riders. Kerry Healey has no problem asking commuters to pay more for public transportation at a time when gas prices are soaring and excess traffic continues to clog our streets and pollute our air.

Don't be fooled.

Kerry Healey pretends she wants to save taxpayers money, but she is calling for a commuter tax that hurts residents who can least afford it. Like Mitt Romney, Kerry Healey fails to realize the importance of encouraging greater use of public transportation. Instead, she is actively discouraging it.

“Kerry Healey is so far out of touch with Massachusetts residents that she might as well be on another planet,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chairman Phil Johnston. “ Massachusetts residents cannot afford to elect someone who continues to find ways to hurt working people.”

Kerry Healey this week also said she wants to take pensions away from thousands of hard working Massachusetts residents. It's another half-baked plan that would take money out of the pockets of those who have worked the hardest to earn it and who need it the most.

After 16 years of failed Republican ‘leadership', the time has come to elect a leader who understands the values and priorities of working people and who will fight to make Massachusetts an affordable and desirable place to live.
