John Fresolo
Representative John P. Fresolo is a lifelong resident of the 16th Worcester District and an active member of his church and many civic organizations. He was born and raised in the Vernon Hill section of Worcester and currently resides within the Grafton Hill neighborhood.
John P. Fresolo is the State Representative for the 16th Worcester District. John has two daughters, Francesca who is 13 years old, and Maria who is 12 years old. John is 41 years old and has lived in Worcester his entire life. John is currently serving his fourth term in the House of Representatives.
Fresolo serves as a member of the Worcester Democratic City Committee (Ward 5), and has been active in numerous local and state elections. In his fourth term, State Representative Fresolo currently serves on the Joint Committee on Housing, the Joint Committe on Public Service, and the House Committee on Personnel and Administration.
As the father of two children in the Worcester public school system, Representative Fresolo has fought for education funding reform and affordable childcare. Rep. Fresolo and his colleagues in the House were able to secure an additional $6.5 million for a total of $167.5 million in Chapter 70 funding for Worcester Public Schools in the FY07 Budget and continues to fight for reform in underperforming schools.
Fresolo has also been active in addressing the public safety needs of the citizens of the 16th Worcester District. Fresolo successfully secured nearly $800,000 over the last eight years in additional community police funds for the Union Hill, Vernon Hill, Grafton Hill, Quinsigamond Village and Green Island neighborhoods of Worcester . This continued funding has and will continue to address the growing problem of illegal drug use, violent crime, and gang formation.
Realizing that much of his district is made up of hard working, mostly blue collar families, Rep. Fresolo has been instrumental in acquiring state and grant funding to allow for low and moderate income housing. Within Rep. Fresolo's last term, he secured funding for the Hadley Building Project, which will bring 40 affordable housing units to the former David Burwick Furniture Building . The sources of funding included $630,000.00 from the Federal Low Income Tax Housing Credit, and $550,000.00 from the Department of Housing and Community Development's Housing Stabilization Fund. A 35 unit affordable senior housing complex being constructed by The Church of Ascension due to the $4.23 million, Rep. Fresolo secured. He has also worked with the South Worcester Neighborhood Improvement Corporation to renovate and rehab abandoned and blighted buildings in the South Worcester area including affordable housing at the corner of Cambridge and Hacker Streets.
Rep. Fresolo was instrumental in securing state funds of $100,000 for the construction of the Central Massachusetts ? Korean War Memorial in Worcester . Rep. Fresolo has also passed legislation to name the new Rt. 146/Massachusetts Turnpike Interchange as the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Memorial Highway .
Rep. Fresolo is a former co-chair of the Central Massachusetts Legislative Caucus. He is also serving as the co-chair of the Route 146 Citizen Advisory Committee. This Committee is in charge of monitoring the Route 146/ Massachusetts Turnpike project, which is the 3rd largest construction project in the state. Rep. Fresolo has worked diligently to make the $300 million Rt. 146 Massachusetts Turnpike Project a reality for Central MA commuters. The project includes over $160 million dedicated solely to Worcester ; with the development and renovation of Hurley and Brosnihan Squares in Worcester , and that securing land takings and funding to widen the intersection of Cambridge and Southbridge Streets for dedicated right and left turn lanes. Recently, Fresolo has secured the $1.6 million state contribution to the new Blackstone Gateway Visitors' Center.
Fresolo is also an active member of many civic organizations, including the Grafton Hill Neighborhood Association, Grafton Hill Business Association, Canal District CDC (formerly Green Island/Vernon Hill C.D.C.), Oak Hill CDC, College Hill Civic Association, Sons of Italy Lodge #168, East Side Improvement Club, Emerald Club, Worcester Elks Lodge #243, Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435, Polish Naturalization Independent (PNI) Club - Associate Member , Friends of Hope Cemetery, and the Brown Square Civic Club. Fresolo is also active in his parish of Ascension Church , where he serves as Cantor and Finance Committee Chairman.

Bristol District Attorney
Samuel Sutter
http://www.tellsamsutter.com/about.htm
Sam Sutter is a former Bristol County prosecutor and a past recipient of the Prosecutor of the Year award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Originally from Connecticut, Sam went to college at nearby Brown University, graduating in 1976. After college, he spent several years coaching and playing tennis professionally in different parts of the world.
He returned to the United States to go to law school at Vanderbilt University where he graduated in 1983. He then practiced law for seven years on Cape Cod before joining the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office in 1991.
The following year, he was recognized by the local chapter of MADD as Prosecutor of the Year for his outstanding work prosecuting drunk driving cases. He was also featured that same year in MADDVOCATE, the national magazine of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, as one of America’s outstanding prosecutors. In 1994, he was named supervisor of the prosecutors at Attleboro District Court and, in 1995, was promoted to Superior Court. There he successfully prosecuted approximately one hundred major felony cases. He also won guilty verdicts in eighty-five (85) percent of his trials. And, during his four years in Superior Court, he regularly represented the District Attorney’s Office at local school programs, senior citizen centers, police training sessions and continuing legal education seminars.
In 1999, he left the District Attorney’s Office and reentered private practice. Over the past seven years, he has directed his own law practice and was recently described in the Fall River Herald as one of this area’s prominent attorneys. From 2000 to 2002, he hosted the popular radio program “Let’s Talk Law” on WBSM in New Bedford. His office is located at 203 Plymouth Avenue in Fall River, in the same building as the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Sam is the former Chairman of the Board of Project COACH, an organization which provided community service and treatment opportunities for individuals placed on probation by the Juvenile and District Courts. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Bristol County chapter of MADD, and the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative, a division of the New Bedford chapter of the United Way. He is presently on the Planning Committee for “Journey Through Our Village”, an annual event which raises money to send local inner city children to summer camp. He has been a volunteer for both literacy training and reading to school children. He has also volunteered as a coach and referee for youth basketball.
For the past seven summers, he has spent his Saturday mornings giving free tennis clinics to Fall River youths between the ages of six and sixteen. Last year, the Durfee High School tennis team enjoyed one of its best seasons ever and two of the top three players learned how to play in Sam’s free clinics. At Bishop Connolly High School, in Fall River, three of the top four tennis players also learned how to play in Sam’s free clinics. In recognition of his efforts, the Fall River Herald named him one of its “Coaches who Make a Difference” for 2005.
Sam is married and has three children: Cliff, 15; Alex, 15; and, Ava 2 ½. His wife is the former Dorothy Feliz, who was born in St. Michael, Portugal and grew up in Fall River and Westport. The Sutters reside in Fall River.
