"On a personal
level, I am very pleased by the court's action. The Democratic Party
platform supports civil unions, but personally, I think the court's
judgment today is the best position on this matter.
"Today's decision by the court supports
my personal belief that allowing same-sex couples to marry is a
matter of basic fairness. It is a civil rights issue and the court
has made the proper decision.
We are all entitled to the same protections
under the law and there should be no provision which excludes anyone
from that Constitutional guarantee."
